Why Should I Go to Zambia’s Lower Zambezi National Park?
Lower Zambezi National Park is one of the most pristine parks in all of Africa, offering visitors the opportunity to escape the crowds in a wild and authentic safari oasis. Quiet, remote, secluded, and exclusive, Lower Zambezi is a place where time slows down and nature’s rhythms take over. Located in southern Zambia, on the border with Zimbabwe and bordered by the mighty Zambezi River, the park’s breathtaking landscapes include vast floodplains, riverine habitats, and dense woodlands set against a backdrop of distant escarpments. Guests can explore this majestic and remote wilderness by foot, safari vehicle, canoe, and boat, with abundant wildlife at every turn. The best time to visit is April through October.
Wildlife Highlights
Wildlife viewing is exceptional in this 1,600 square-mile park, with opportunities to see lions, buffalo, hyenas, leopards, elephants, hippos, crocs, zebras, and various antelope species. Lower Zambezi is one of the best places in Africa to see leopards and African wild dogs, and the night game drives are also some of the best on the continent. Camps are unfenced and located right along the river, creating spectacular wildlife viewing even while in camp (watch out for elephants on the walk back to your tent!).
