Vibrant South Africa has so much to offer for every type of guest. Much of this is owed to the geographical habitat diversity, like the fynbos ecosystem of coastal Cape Town in the Western Cape, the sand forests of Phinda, the ragged outcrops of the Drakensberg mountains, and the mopane woodlands of the greater Kruger National Park region.

For the wildlife enthusiast, there are an exceptionally diverse array of parks, reserves, and conservancies. In the Sabi Sands and Timbavati, adjacent to the Kruger National Park, you’ll follow leopards, elephants, and rhino through the bush. At Marakele National Park, nestled amid the Waterberg mountains, buffalo and lion take center stage. Madikwe Game Reserve is home to wild dog, ostrich, and cheetah and is great for families looking for a malaria-free safari. Tswalu, a jewel hidden away in the Kalahari Desert, is a safari aficionado’s paradise, with resident populations of exceedingly rare species like aardvark, pangolin, aardwolf, and brown hyena.

South Africa is one of the most developed countries in Africa which means getting there, around, and away is a breeze. Most guests will start in Cape Town, our most favorite city, before venturing out to the parks and reserves. It’s a great place to acclimate and enjoy exceptional wine and food (and penguins!), learn the history of the country and enjoy the most contemporary and cosmopolitan city on the continent.

Everything is so well connected that any part of South Africa could be considered as an extension to a safari elsewhere in southern Africa. But the best way to experience it is as a destination unto itself.
