Active Argentina
12 Days of Active Adventures in Patagonia
This custom, adventure-fused journey will start with an active exploration of the dynamic city of Buenos Aires, including a private tour by bike to take in the city’s architecture and history, followed by an evening tango lesson.
A short flight from Buenos Aires will transport you from the urban expanses of the city to the stunning natural beauty of Bariloche, northern Patagonia’s gateway to adventure. Nestled along the shores of the crystalline waters of Nahuel Huapi Lake, surrounded by the snow-capped peaks of the Andes Mountains, Bariloche is a charming mountain town to base your explorations from. Raft the swirling, emerald waters of a local river or kayak the azure waters of one of the region’s expansive lakes. Get your adrenaline pumping with an afternoon mountain bike ride or enjoy looking for birds and other wildlife on an afternoon hike. Refuel and replenish at the end of each day at your boutique hotel, whether by enjoying an evening hot tub soak, a massage, or just by dining upon a hearty, locally-sourced meal.
Further south from Bariloche, Los Glaciares National Park is Argentina’s largest national park and home to the largest ice cap in the world outside of the Arctic and Antarctic. Based from the picturesque town of El Calafate on the shores of Lago Argentino, don crampons and head up onto the ice of the Perito Moreno glacier to check out its moulins, crevasses and seracs on a glacier minitrekking expedition. Head further south to El Chalten to trek some of Patagonia’s most scenic trails. Hike across colorful wetlands, braided river valleys and verdant forests to gain stunning views of the jagged peaks of Fitz Roy, Cerro Torres and other rocky sentinels that loom over shimmering glacial lakes below.
Argentina is a dream destination for adventure lovers and we crafted this itinerary specifically for adventure aficionados wishing to experience the region in diverse ways, soaking up the country’s untamed landscapes, warm hospitality and delightful culture along the way.
