Botswana Camping Safari
Day 1

Arrive Maun and Fly to Moremi Reserve

After arriving at Maun Airport, you’ll be met and escorted through through customs to meet your bush pilot, who will fly you over the Okavango Delta. This is a bird’s eye view of what is considered the crown-jewel of wildlife habitat in southern Africa and one of the largest wetland wildernesses in the world. Upon touchdown at a remote airstrip, you’ll meet your guide and head off for a game drive within the renowned Moremi Game Reserve to your mobile camp. The friendly, attentive camp staff will make you feel right at home and brief you on what to expect on your camping safari. The true wonder of a mobile camping experience unfolds as the sun sets and you enjoy a starlit dinner around the campfire. Welcome to Botswana! Overnight at our mobile camp in the Moremi Game Reserve.

Day 2

Moremi Game Reserve

Today, you’ll head off through the Moremi Reserve on a game drive with your guide. The Moremi is amazingly diverse, with forests and lagoons providing ample habitat for all manner of wildlife. Home of the Big Five, you’ll have the possibility of seeing elephants, hippos, buffaloes, rhino, giraffes, impala, lions, leopards, cheetahs, and hyenas. This wetland is also a bird watcher’s dream and home to myriad bird species. Overnight at our mobile camp in the Moremi Game Reserve.

Days 3-5

Okavango Delta - Khwai Reserve

After breakfast at dawn, your camp is packed up and you’ll strike out for the Khwai Reserve, stopping for a picnic lunch en route. As a community area, funds from your stay benefit locals by supporting medical clinics and schools. Enjoy game drives, a dugout mokoro (traditional canoe) safari through the channels of the Okavango, and even night drives when the nocturnal world comes alive. Because of the perennial wetlands this is a wonderful area for roan and sable, which are rare. You may also see kudu, tsessebe, wildebeest, and zebra. Massive families of elephants are often seen along the Khwai River. Predators are also common like lions, hyena, and wild dogs. Overnight for three nights at our Mobile Camp.

Days 6-8

Savute Channel and Chobe National Park

Western Chobe is far removed from the more crowded eastern part of the park. This wilderness area is the perfect place for our bush campsite and it’s a wildlife lover’s paradise. The fickle Savute Channel has a history of flowing and drying up owing to plate tectonics and not the ebb and flow of the rainy seasons. After nearly 30 years, the channel began flowing again in 2008, transforming this arid area back to a lush wetland. This attracted plentiful wildlife from all over the region on full display for the intrepid few visitors who are lucky enough to explore this region. Your days are spent on game drives exploring and watching out for predators and prey alike. Overnight for three nights at Mobile Camp.

Days 9-10

Chobe Riverfront

Journey north to the Chobe Riverfront, home of some of the world’s largest herds of elephants. Wildlife densities are impressive here with lion, hyena, and leopard sightings as well as giraffe, buffalo, and zebra. The final nights of your Botswana camping safari are spent at a wilderness campsite near the river. Your game drives will take you along the riverbanks and watering holes frequented by all of these animals. A boat cruise brings you up close to hippos, crocodiles and wild birds, from mighty fish eagles to graceful herons. Overnight at Mobile Camp.

Day 11

Livingstone, Zambia

Bid farewell to your camping crew as you cross into Zambia bound for Chundukwa River Lodge. Perched on the edge of the mighty Zambezi this is the perfect place to relax and unwind after your time in the bush. This afternoon, enjoy a sunset cruise before a home-cooked dinner is served under the stars.

Day 12

Victoria Falls and Departure

One last adventure awaits this morning as you visit the “smoke that thunders,” one of the true wonders of the world, Victoria Falls. The Zambezi River plunges over the lip of the basalt gorge with such force that the spray can be seen from dozens of miles away. The rumble and power is contrasted with the endless rainbows. After this experience, transfer to Livingstone Airport in time for your departing flight.
