Today you will travel back in time during a private tour of the old city of Amman, including the Citadel and the Roman Theater. In the afternoon you will stroll the trendy Rainbow Street, where handicraft stalls, coffee shops, and local art galleries abound. After a visit to the Husseini Mosque you will enjoy the rest of the afternoon at leisure.
This morning you will head out on a day trip to explore the ancient Roman ruins at Jerash, one of the most impressive and well-preserved Roman archaelogical sites in the world. After enjoying a delicious lunch at a women’s cooperative, you will explore the sprawling complex of Ajloun Castle, a medieval fortress that played a key role in controlling trade routes and protecting Jordan from the Crusaders.
Today starts with a visit to the city of Madaba, which is best known for its amazing Byzantine mosaics, including the Madaba Map, the oldest preserved mosaic map of the Holy Lands. You will then enjoy a short hike at Mount Nebo, where Moses is said to have viewed the Promised Land before his death, before stopping to explore the ancient crusader castle at Kerak. A scenic drive through one of the most dramatic landscapes in Jordan will take you to your final destination at Dana Village.
This morning you will get an early start on your 8.7-mile hike from Dana Village to Feynan, descending the Jordan Trail through a massive canyon in the Dana Biosphere Reserve. Your local guide will interpret the natural history of the region’s birds, plants, and wildlife and you will likely encounter Bedouin villagers or shepherds along the way. After relaxing at your eco-lodge in the afternoon, enjoy an evening walk with a local guide to take in the breathtaking landscapes around you as you sip Bedouin tea while watching an amazing sunset.
This morning you will get to choose from a variety of cultural experiences offered through your lodge, whether that’s a village visit, cooking lesson, or weaving demonstration. After lunch you will take a private road transfer through the rugged mountain landscapes to reach the magical hamlet of Little Petra, where you will be warmly welcomed at your Bedouin camp.
Today you will follow an ancient footpath on your seven-mile hike to the back entrance of Petra, surrounded by amazing views of the Araba Mountains and Negev Desert. You will be absolutely wowed when you catch your first glimpse of the Monastery from afar, and you will follow ancient Nabatean pathways that take you past the Monastery, down timeworn stone steps, past the monumental Treasury, and out the Petra Siq.
The red rose city of Petra is a sprawling complex of stunning rock-cut Nabatean architecture, and today you will enjoy a private guided tour of its intricate tombs and mysterious ruins. After an active day of exploration on foot, you will end the day with a delectable meal that you and your companions prepare during a Jordanian cooking class.
Today you will depart Petra and head into the vast desert landscapes of Wadi Rum. Upon arrival at your Bedouin camp, you will transfer to a jeep to explore the surrounding moonscape of canyons, valleys, and dunes with your guide. Watch the shadows grow longer and the sky change to a mesmerizing canvas of colors on a sunset camel ride. Don’t forget to stop and admire the brilliant, star-studded night sky after dark.
This morning you will bid goodbye to the towering sandstone cliffs and endless rolling dunes of Wadi Rum as your private driver takes you on a scenic drive to your next destination, the Dead Sea. This afternoon, walk down to the Dead Sea from your hotel to float in its mineral-rich, buoyant waters, noting the otherworldly sensation of weightlessness you feel as you can’t help but float.
The following day you will cool off with an exhilarating hike up the rugged Wadi Mujib canyon, walking through the cascading waters of the Mujib River, surrounded by steep canyon walls carved over millennia. Your guide will help you scramble over boulders, ascend a few short ladders, and wade through the emerald waters of the river until you reach the hidden waterfall that awaits you up canyon. The afternoon is yours to relax at the hotel, taking one last opportunity to watch the sun set against the barren landscapes and rugged mountains that surround the Dead Sea.
This morning you will take an early morning private transfer to the airport in Amman to catch your international departing flight.
