Classic Kenya Safari

You’ll be met on arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport and after passing through customs you will be driven to your hotel, located on the edge of Nairobi National Park.

You’ll head to the Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage this morning where you’ll get up close with the juvenile elephants under their care. Afterward, head to Giraffe Center (and have your camera ready), where you’ll have the opportunity to hand feed the endangered Rothschild giraffes.

Fly to Nanyuki in the Laikipia region north of Nairobi. From there you’ll immediately head out on a game drive into Ol Pejeta Conservancy, passing over the equator as you explore. This conservancy is focused on pioneering conservation initiatives like rhino and chimpanzee rehabilitation. Game drives, walking safaris, and night drives are all possibilities.

Spend the next two days exploring Ol Pej on foot and by vehicle. Elephant, buffalo, lion, and leopard are frequently seen, but the stars of the show are the last two remaining Northern White Rhino (the daughter and granddaughter of Sudan – our logo’s inspiration). It is a real privilege to be able to get up close to these magnificent creatures.

After a morning game drive and transfer to Nanyuki, fly west to the Maasai Mara, the crown jewel of Kenya’s wildlife reserves. Arriving into Rekero one cannot help but utter “Wow.” Set on the banks of the Talek River, with an epic view downstream, you can literally watch giraffe and all manner of wildlife cross while eating lunch. Enjoy an evening game drive with good chances to see lions, cheetahs, giraffe, zebra, and eland. Overnight Rekero.

Wildlife viewing is superb year-round in the Mara and the guides are some of the best in Kenya. Crossing points are easily reached from camp so you are in the best possible position to try and catch a river crossing by the fickle wildebeests. Consider adding on a dawn hot air balloon (at additional cost) to get a bird’s eye view over the dramatic game-filled landscapes of the Mara. There’s a reason guests return here again and again! Located adjacent to the Masai Mara Reserve, the Naboisho Conservancy is a groundbreaking initiative that benefits both wildlife conservation and the local community. Spectacular game viewing (including high concentrations of predators) combined with community interaction and the opportunity to join a walking safari has made the conservancy one of the most immersive destinations in Kenya.

Spend the next two days on game drives and walks, night drives, and visiting the local community. For the more adventurous, its even possible to fly camp out under the stars. Wildlife viewing is excellent here with superb opportunities to see lion, cheetah, elephant, and wild dog. Low visitor numbers mean fewer vehicles and a quiet and exclusive experience.
